This policy describes the CopyCol browser extension — what it does on your computer, what it sends to our server, and what we store. It is not about the copycol.net website.

The extension and this website are two different things. The extension uses no analytics service of any kind. This website is an ordinary website and, like most websites, it uses Google Analytics: when you visit a page here, including this one, Google receives the visit and sets a cookie in your browser. That is the website, not the extension — Google Analytics is never loaded into the pages you browse, and the extension does not use it. Google's handling of that data is described in Google's Privacy Policy.
Everything below is about the extension.
CopyCol finds tables on a web page, lets you pick columns, and copies them to your clipboard or saves them as a CSV file. All of that happens on your computer.
The extension does contact our server, and if you buy premium we store a record of your purchase. Our web host also keeps standard access logs, like every web server does. This page explains exactly what that means. We have tried to write it plainly rather than reassuringly.
This is the important part, and it is the reason the extension is built the way it is.
None of this is sent anywhere. Table detection, column selection, clipboard copying and CSV generation all run inside your browser. We never see the data you extract.
The extension makes requests to our own server at copycol.net. The extension uses no third-party analytics services, no advertising networks, and no tracking SDKs of any kind — nothing of that sort is loaded into the pages you browse.
There are four kinds of request. Two of them carry nothing about you. Two of them carry information you have given us.

The counters exist so we can tell how often the upgrade prompt is shown and how often anyone clicks it. Our server keeps one running total per counter per day. It does not record who triggered it, because it is not told. Two people clicking once and one person clicking twice are indistinguishable to us.
These requests are sent by the extension's background service worker, not by the page you are viewing. The pages you visit are not involved and are not told about them.
When you finish paying at PayPal, PayPal sends your browser to a confirmation page on our server that shows your licence key. Your email address is part of that page's web address. It looks like copycol.net/…/payment-success.php?type=…&email=your@email.example&amount=….
This is worth stating plainly, because web addresses are written into access logs. It means that for that one request your email address is recorded in our host's access log next to your IP address, rather than travelling inside the request where logs do not see it. It happens once, only if you complete a purchase. The page itself only looks your licence up to display it; it does not create or change anything.
If you buy premium, we hold a record of your purchase in a database on our server at copycol.net. It contains:
An email address is personal information, and so is a name or postal address where PayPal has sent us one.
We do not sell this information, rent it, share it with advertisers, or use it for marketing. We use it only to operate your licence and to answer you if you contact support.
We do not store your IP address in our database. Our own code never records it anywhere. It appears only in the standard web-server logs described in the next section, which our hosting provider keeps.
Our server also writes ordinary diagnostic log entries when a licence is checked or restored, and those entries can contain the email address or licence key involved in the request.
Retention. We keep your purchase record for as long as your licence exists, so that we can verify it and help you recover it. If you want it removed, email us at the address at the bottom of this page and we will delete it from our database. Deleting it means we can no longer restore your licence for you. Our hosting provider's own server logs, described in the next section, are kept on their schedule and are outside our control.
If you do not buy premium, we store nothing about you at all beyond the server logs described below.
Every request to a web server arrives with information about the connection, and web servers keep access logs of it. Ours is no exception. For each request made to copycol.net, our hosting provider records:
This is standard server logging, it is done by the hosting platform rather than by our code, and we cannot switch it off. We do not use these logs to build profiles, to identify individuals, or to track behaviour across sites. They exist for security and for diagnosing faults.
We are disclosing this because an IP address counts as personal data under Chrome Web Store's data categories, and because it is true. Most extensions do not mention it. That does not make it untrue for them.
Visiting this privacy policy page itself is a web request too, and is logged the same way — and, as noted at the top of this page, it is counted by Google Analytics like any other page on this website.
Premium purchases are processed by PayPal. You enter your payment details on PayPal's systems, not ours. Card numbers and bank details never reach our servers — we never see them and cannot store them.
What we do receive and keep is a record of the purchase itself: your email address, PayPal's transaction reference, the amount, the currency and the payment status. That is a payment record, and we say so rather than implying we hold nothing financial at all.
After you pay, PayPal also sends a notification directly to our server, computer to computer, confirming that the payment completed. That notification is what creates your licence, and what we keep from it is described in "What we store if you buy premium" above.
PayPal's handling of your data is governed by PayPal's Privacy Policy.
There is no CopyCol account. There is no username, no password, no PIN, no security question and no login of any kind. Premium is unlocked by a licence key tied to your email address, not by signing in.

Requests between the extension and our server use HTTPS. Purchase records are held in a database on our server at copycol.net and are not shared with third parties beyond those named below. We keep the amount of stored information deliberately small, and we do not store IP addresses in that database.
We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not transfer it to third parties except as needed to run the service — PayPal for payment, and our hosting provider, which necessarily handles and logs the requests described above. We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
CopyCol is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly store information from them.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
